p.84 House - Blackburn
Site Sensitivities: Countryside / Green Belt / Registered Park & Garden with Listed Building
Shaw & Jagger Architects is delighted to announce the approval, by appeal, of a new neo-classical country house in Lancashire. Approved under NPPF policy paragraph 84, the site is also in the Green Belt and sited next to a Registered Park and heritage assets. This planning achievement is incredibly rare.
The NPPF paragraph 84 and its predecessors go back to Lord Deben’s (John Gummer) Country House Law (PPG7) in 1997. Since then, under this policy exception, only around 150 houses have been approved. Moreover, the vast majority of these are not in the Green Belt and neither are they in the vicinity of a Listed Parkland with a major country estate.
In 2015 Shaw & Jagger Architects achieved the first large country house approval in the Green Belt - See ‘p.84 House - Lancashire’.
Status: Planning Approved in 2024
